Yoga Supplies

While Live Now Yoga doesn't endorse any particular product brands, I will share that I love my Jade Yoga rubber mat that has served me well for seven years now. It has provided me with thousands of hours of yoga time and numerous cleanings, and it is still good to go. Some people prefer Manduka mats, which are also made of natural rubber. In fact, their website offers a short quiz to find the perfect mat for you!

In buying any yoga products, consider both environmental factors as well as personal preferences.  For instance, rubber mats are less likely to slip on the floor but are a more costly investment. Some people like a thicker mat, which provides more cushion under the body, while others find a thinner mat preferable for balance.

Yoga blocks are available in natural cork or foam rubber. There is a considerable difference in the weight and price of these blocks. If you like to support your weight on a block, then the cork blocks are much more sturdy and stable. If you tend to use blocks under your head, then foam blocks are more comfortable. Blocks also come in various sizes, so consider the length of your arms if you are working towards reaching to the floor.

Yoga straps made of cotton may be gentler on your hands than those made of synthetic material. If cost is a consideration, the cheapest option is to go to a fabric store and make your own strap.
